Every day, we struggle to get out of bed and brave the Manila traffic, long queues, and crowded transits. Before we can even get to our destination, we are already tired and drained from commuting alone. A Manila commuter’s life is no joke but these local clothing brands made statement shirts that would make us smile or even laugh.

“Metro Rail Transit Warriors” by Pundesal

If you’ve faced the MRT on a Monday rush hour during a technical difficulty, congratulations, you are considered a warrior and being one comes with a reward. Pundesal created a shirt made just for those who are courageous enough to ride crowded trains with equally sweaty passengers.

There’s also a tribute to those who take the bus, jeep, and other modes of mass public transportation. Aniya Clothing appreciates you, oh brave and mighty traffic survivor.

“Ganadong Tamarin Today” by Linya-linya

We all have moments of tamang tamad lang, especially when Monday hits and we are still not over the weekend. Linya-Linya understands the dilemma enough to make it as inspiration for an adorable t-shirt design.

“Landmarks” by Team Manila

Team Manila’s “Landmarks” t-shirt honors not only the commuters, but also the streets, like Recto and Tabora, every Manillennial knows about. Even though our heads and butts hurt from commuting, we can’t deny that we still travel to these places from time to time.

“Dyipney” by The T-shirt Project

Jeepneys are one of the symbols of our Filipino culture and for the T-shirt Project, riding one is a magical experience. That’s why they made “Disney” into a spoof called “Dyipney”—a commuter essential if you’ll ask us.

“I’m So Proud of You Myself” by Sskait Comics

By the end of the long day or long week, you should be proud of yourself for a great commuting job done. If you forget to give yourself a pat on the back, this Sskait Comics t-shirt will remind you to do so.

These statement shirts do not only make our day but also shows how we turn bad situations around into inspirations to create something worthwhile. Grab one of their shirts and wave the flag of commuters and Filipino creativity.
