In this digital age, people learn a skill by watching other people do it, say, through YouTube Tutorials; others through listening to podcasts, for instance. What won't change, however, is that kinesthetic learning (being hands-on) serves both our visual and auditory needs. And igniting the fire in our frustrated thespian hearts is the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA).
Happening on February 8 to March 29, 2020, PETA's Workshop Weekends is expected to gather foot traffic from adults 18 and above looking to enrich their passion for the performing arts. The event consists of an in-depth 12-session workshop, to be conducted by some of the country's most sought-after thespians and practitioners in the industry. The workshop is also designed to fit the busy lifestyles of adults 18 and above—created through PETA's vision for empowering creatives and enriching their talents through thought-provoking, holistic theater experience.
Interested fellows may choose from the three available workshops: Theater Arts, a 101 on fundamental knowledge, skills, and attitudes in theater acting; Basic Acting, an exploration of various acting styles and principles; and Creative Musical Theater, lessons on the elements of a musical performance.
The upcoming cycle of Workshop Weekends is open to anyone, be it a beginner or advanced in the topic. Best part? You'll meet lots of similarly enthusiastic people and even get to make new friends. Enroll online, stat, because slots are on a first-come, first-served basis.
PETA Theater Center is at 5 Sunnyside Drive, New Manila, Quezon City. For more information, call Betita at 725 6244 or 0926 406 6858.
