We must be the luckiest people on Earth when English synth-pop duo HONNE kicked off their Asia tour with a week-long show around Manila. Though it's their fourth visit in the Philippines, Filipino fans keep on growing. Halfway through their Philippine tour, we sat down with James Hatcher and Andy Clutterbuck and learned some pretty interesting facts.
Interviews with international artists visiting the Pearl of the Orient Seas wouldn't be complete without the "best food" inquiry. For HONNE, it's the National Food of the Philippines (Adobo), the pambansang pulutan (Sisig), and, to our surprise, Cloud 9. Yes, the chocolate bar with layers of soft nougat, crunchy peanuts, and more. Additionally, they also (still) won't try the "weird egg thing" aka balut, which is understandable, to be fair.
But perhaps the most noteworthy, breathtaking words we heard were "collab" and "Phum Viphurit."
"We've literally messaged him [Phum] about it [a collaboration] the other day. We're gonna try and do something in December. He's great. I love him," says James Hatcher.
The "try" part keeps us on our toes, but it's now a feasible dream: HONNE and Thai indie-folk singer-songwriter Phum Viphurit might be dropping a collab soon.
Further, the duo also expressed high hopes in working with American rapper-activist Chance the Rapper and singer-songwriter Frank Ocean—both of which are capable of hitting our hearts and the top charts.
