Our country is rich with tales and myths supernatural creatures. There are dwende, aswang, manananggal, and tikbalang. We wouldn’t leave out sorcery in the mix because we have the mambabarang. This mythological character is the main focus of Regal Films’ movie The Heiress.
The Heiress tells the story of a mambabarang named Luna. She wanted to make her niece, Guia, follow her footsteps. Guia didn’t have any idea what’s coming out to get her until she sees and feels unusual phenomena—that includes pasta that turned into a plate of worms.
Its trailer shows how the dark sorceress controls the bodies of its victims, up to the point where their limbs and shoulders twist in a horrifying manner. If that doesn’t scare you enough, you should see their representation with mamalarang, the evil spirit that controls the mambabarang. And yes, they are two different entities.
It’s only a matter of time before mamalarang will take over not only Guia, but the people close to her too.
The Heiress promises a frightening experience and a glimpse of our country’s rich culture as the creative team based this story on Filipino Mythology.
Starring McCoy de Leon, Sunshine Cruz, Janella Salvador, and Maricel Soriano, The Heiress will give you the scare you have yet to experience, enough for it to make you scream for real before this decade ends. This movie is directed by Frasco Mortiz and produced by Regal Films. Watch out for The Heiress on November 27 in cinemas nationwide.
