Aspiring talented singers and musicians join singing competitions and talent shows to be discovered, if not through going viral on Facebook or YouTube. But now, the next big OPM star could be singing along the Light Railway Transit (LRT) stations.
In celebration of Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino, the well-acclaimed busking sessions along LRT-1 tracks will be back for another set of amazing and inspiring Pinoy artists for every commuters’ entertainment on July 25 to 27. Surpass the long lines and dreaded wait times toward the train station and enjoy a series of live performances from these up and coming local artists.
The first station to witness the performances of aspiring artists is aptly the first LRT-1 station from the south—Baclaran.
Starting off with Ace Dyamante, a singer-songwriter who believes that music is an excellent medium for telling stories. Having experienced the good and bad things about love, Ace gets the opportunity to express his emotions through music.
Be calm as Maxine Tiongson beats the heat with her sweet tune, singing her originally composed music. Some of her songs are “Rekindled,” “Leave Your Love Unsaid,” “Love Can Make You Whole,” and “My Song.”
Singer-songwriter Kian Dionisio, who is now a recording artist under GMA Records will also sing for us. The breakout Railway Jam soul belter Miss Ramonne, who started in a talent show where she was coached by rock singer Bamboo, will return as well.
At Doroteo Jose
The connector of LRT-1 and LRT-2 lines will be the next station to enjoy some jazz and pop genres from the duo Brad and Nuqui and pop singer Moira Lacambra, who just released her debut single “First Date.”
Catch the second-generation entertainer Rox Puno, son of OPM icon Rico J. Puno, as he enters the music scene through a genre he likes to call “macho rock.” He defines such genre as “a hybrid of the old and new.”
Volts Vallejo is also included in the lineup for Doroteo Jose station busking session. His rise to fame is all thanks to “Hey Crush,” which is the official theme song of the Vince, Kath, and James film.
An acoustic-flavored pop session comes at Monumento station because of acoustic balladeers Calde and Jai Barrientos, vocalist and guitarist of the folk-pop-rock band Jai.
Bringing her acoustic guitar, Vanessa Mendoza, who started doing covers online and now a recording artist, will also join these unique busking sessions. She recently released her first recording, “Di Aaminin,” under VIVA Records.
Completing the line up is singer-songwriter Vanz Bonaobra, who will serenade us with some of his acoustic songs. He is also part of this year’s FILSCAP Songwriters’ Night Select where he performs his own compositions such as “Lango,” “Manatili,” and “Oh Ulan.”
