A reliable streaming service goes beyond its mere capability to activate the couch potatoes in us. The arrival of updated movies and TV shows to watch online has been and still is too quick that we forget to ask ourselves: “Are we truly interested in this show?” Is your subscription worth every penny you're spending?
A proven way to amass an audience from our own country is to give them something they're proud of: their own. And when it comes to local films and TV shows, VIVA Communications, Inc. thrives. The list of exceptional actors, directors, and artists this multi-media company has given us is too long. Their subsidiary production company, VIVA Films, is responsible for the films we love. From the star-studded Camp Sawi (2016) to the Sarah G-starrer Miss Granny (2018) to the power couple JaDine's Never Not Love You (2018)—the list goes on.
We're no fans of what-ifs but what if these films, films that became part of our lives and often referenced daily, can be rewatched at our fingertips? There's no curiosity left to dwell at because VIVA's entire library of film classics and modern indie pieces can now be streamed through iflix.
One of the leading entertainment services in Southeast Asia, iflix is opening a door for Filipinos to binge local films with ease. The multi-faceted partnership was officially announced during the iflix Party, held on July 10 at the Common Ground in Bonifacio Global City. If the reception was any indication (what with the presence of well-respected figures and local celebrities), it is a momentous event for the local entertainment industry.
Moreover, iflix and VIVA have set the wheels in motion for the production of 30 films and nine series over the next three years. What this does, aside from serving Filipinos with quality content, is to allow said films and our favorite local actors to reach a wider audience via the iflix platform. If our ferocious production team plays their cards right, we're looking at international recognitions along the way.
In case you missed it, iflix has launched iflixFREE in mid-2018, allowing Filipino audiences to binge thousands of hours of content for free with no sign-up required. The streaming platform also has three original shows: Hot Ones Philippines, Hoy! Bibig Mo, and Mystified.
Times change. There’s more link than ink when chatting with our friends. The Cloud isn't just a mass of water hanging in the atmosphere. Supporting local films isn't limited to movie nights at the cinemas. But to whose disapproval when streaming is better than piracy?
