The Shoe Brand That's Supporting a Cause in Every Sole

If there is one thing we can all collectively attest to, it would be that there are long-standing issues taking place that we personally care and wish to do something about. Just like us, there are brands that are seeking to do their part in combating some of these issues as well. One such brand is footwear and lifestyle brand TOMS, that launched its global Stand for Tomorrow initiative in the Philippines. 

Taking Initiative 

This isn’t the first time that the brand has decided to take part in helping combat social issues happening worldwide. Since its 2006 launch, TOMS has donated one pair of shoes to a child in a developing nation for every pair sold to consumers. And through other fundraisers, the brand has also provided a large number of sight restorations and safe water to communities in need all around the world, thereby proving that charitable giving lies at the core of the brand’s vision and purpose. 

TOMS has chosen to make its social responsibility as a company its top priority by putting focus on health, education and economic opportunity. The brand continues to evolve and allocate its profits towards solving problems that impact our world today. 

Stand for Tomorrow

But the brand doesn’t just stop there, the launch of TOMS’ Stand for Tomorrow initiative will entail the brand partnering with local changemakers who advocate for issues that matter. The initiative aims to create a broader impact through addressing some of the most pressing issues of our time, initiating project-based investments with local non-profits and changemakers across the globe.

Here in the Philippines, Stand for Tomorrow was launched in partnership with Arianna Cowper, a Filipina model, and advocate for the fight against sexual abuse of young women under the CRIBS foundation. 

Through the TOMS’ Stand for Tomorrow initiative, Cowper can spread the word about her advocacy and gather more support in advocating for the protection of young women being sexually abused.

TOMS Philippines Stand for Tomorrow was launched along with Cowper, who Stand for Courage, and the new Venice Collection at the SM Mega Fashion Hall. The event was reminiscent of the birthplace of TOMS, Venice, where culture is king and inspiration is queen. Activities such as the freedom wall and the barefoot walk encouraged visitors to express themselves and understand the causes supported by TOMS.

More than just being the birthplace of TOMS, Venice is a city of color and hip culture where different views meet with artists and activists striving for progress. The shoe collection showcases a refreshing and colorful take on their classic shoes. It offers a bold selection with chunky platforms. To add more attitude, the shoes come in iridescence and funky neon colors that remind us of the ‘90s flair.

According to TOMS, the colorful shoes are a symbolism of their passion as they encourage those that are curious, adventurous and those that believe that they can make a difference to take a stand for what they believe to be right. 

With its new initiative, TOMS has given its consumers the opportunity to not only invest in funky and good quality shoes but also the chance to stand up and be a part of bigger social change.
