We all had different experiences for 2018. But we’re certain that it is not all rainbows and butterflies, but it’s not also all storms and cloudy skies either. It’s a mixture of both and all things in between, and that’s what makes it beautiful. So beautiful, in fact, that we sometimes can’t describe it in our own words.

Luckily, Philpop 2018 Top 10 entries have provided us with song lines that would probably explain and sum up our roller coaster ride of a year.

With all we have been through, we became strong independent people whose happiness don’t need to rely on anyone.

Ang mahalaga kahit nag-iisa
Puso ay laging may sigla
‘Di naman kailangan iasa sa iba
Kung paano ka liligaya, ‘di ba?
-”Laon Ako”

If 2018 has not been fleeting, then it must be a crazy one. Yet, we still come back for more.

I never felt this way before
Her sabor
Is all I ever want and more
Por favor
I’m so loco de amor
-”Loco de Amor”

We can’t have everything we want in this life. Not riches, not even the one we want to be with. *cries*

Wala man ko'y bahandi (I don't have treasures)
Walay mga bulawan (I don't have gold)
Dili ako halangdon (I'm not a royal)
Kastilyo ko'y gima gikans balas (My castles are built of sand)
Rayna ka'g ako saop lamang (You're a queen, I'm but a slave)
-”Di Ko Man”

Sometimes we learn to take risks, but there will be times when we will be hesitant to take a great leap of faith. It is all up to us to conquer our doubts and hesitations.

Kung sa tuwing sinusubukan takot ay humahadlang
Paano kung hindi pareho ng nararamdaman
Kung ‘di ko gagawin ay pagsisisi ang nakaabang
Saan nga ba pwedeng magsimula
-”Pilipit”

We experienced several disappointments, some because of people we expect to care, who in the end, couldn’t even spare a minute of their time.

Dalawang oras na nung huling message mo
Nakailang ikot na ako sa mall na ‘to
Sa ilang on the way pa ba maniniwala
Bakit pagdating sa'yo ako'y walang kadala-dala
-”Yun Tayo”

And we’ve also learned to say “enough” and cut off several people in our lives.

Tama na
Itama na ang bawat pagkakamali
Sa isa't-isa
Tama na, naglaho at nagbago na
Ang iyong ngiti
Tama ka, tama na
-”Tama na”

Often, we just can’t help but keep on looking back at the start, questioning ourselves if we had at least done something worthwhile.

Bakit paulit-ulit kong
Binabalikan ang simula
Kung wala namang nangyari 'di ba
-”Isang Gabing Pag-ibig”

And we just end up saying to ourselves, “That’s it?”

Ang bilis ng mga pangyayaring sadyang nakakagulat
Bigla na lang bumigat ang binubuhat
-”Ako Ako”

Do you sometimes stop and think that life is a big game you’re always “it”?

Pagmulat ay gising na sa mundo
Minsan bata, matanda o sasakyan ang kalaro
Habulan sa lansangan, nakikipatintero
Na mahingan and dumaan na estranghero
-”Nanay Tatay”

One thing’s for sure, no matter what 2018 did to us, it all made us better persons somehow, and we’re all with you in hopes that 2019 will be a better (and nicer) year.

Tinulak niyang muli, sinimulan ang maglakad
Bitbit ang baka sakali kung saan man ipadpad
-”Kariton”

Now that our emotions and feelings have been explained (thanks to Philpop 2018 top 10), we can finally say, “So long 2018! 2019, bring it on!” And so another chapter begins.
