Having a live adaptation of the Little Prince by French writer and poet, Antoine de Saint-Exupery is one thing. Having a musical adaptation of the well-loved novella is another.

That's exactly what Make Believe Productions gracefully gave us for more than a year since its first staging on September 2017 at Fully Booked Bonifacio High Street—a magical journey, as we like to put it.

Like its source material, the interactive play's key thematic messages articulated by its characters suggest a much wider range of readers. Even if you haven’t read the book or watched the play, you can still immerse in the story of The Little Prince through music.

From cheerful and playful tunes to heartwarming and straight-from-the-heart songs, here’s why it’s worth a listen:

It’s deeply relatable

Practicality is no stranger to many Filipino homes. Like the pilot, a lot of us hardly grew up to be what we wanted to be when we were young. "Why do we try?" as the song "Reason for Life" wants to ask. It hurts to listen to strangely pessimistic lyrics, but it's a reminder of how we unknowingly overlook precedence.

It’s a nostalgic experience

If the pilot is a representation of buried dreams, the little prince is a memory of our innocent yet passionate selves. And what better way to welcome the nostalgia than with a soothing instrumental track that reverberates memories from our childhood.

It’s a fun narrative thread

Songs like the "The Queen of Practicality," "Likes," and the "Lamplighter Song"  sang by the characters that the little prince meets before landing on Earth is a fresh addition to the soundtrack. These songs offer a perspective of what Make Believe Productions is all about.

It’s a reminder of the invisible

Seeing how fast-paced the world is now and how it's easy to be occupied with responsibilities, we often forget to pause and take a moment to breathe. As one song puts it, “what is essential is invisible to the eye.”

"The Little Prince Musical" Soundtrack, launched on October 9 at Café Mary Grace, is now on Spotify! Open the eyes of your heart and prepare for a journey to the stars.
