It can't be denied. Malls really are one-stop shops for everyone. Who can blame the public though, it’s almost on every corner of the metro and it has everything-from stores, restos, to cinemas (and air-conditioning, too!). But why not try shying away from the convenience of malls and try something new for your bonding experience?

Here are some of the places inside Manila that you and your barkada might want to pay a visit: (And we’re keeping this list entrance fee free!)

Reading Club 2000
Balagtas St., Makati

If you and your friends are those that get excited when they hear anything about books, then Reading Club 2000 is the best place for you! This 24/7 makeshift library allows you to borrow or even take whatever books you want from its shelves for free! You can even donate some of your own books and add them to the Reading Club 2000’s collection for others to enjoy.

Paco Park
Paco, Manila

For those who love a music-filled night out, Paco Park has free concerts every Friday. This project was born out of the collaboration of Department of Tourism with the National Parks and Development Committee. You don't have to worry about admission. Make sure to be there early if you want the best seats in the house.

UP Film Institute
Diliman, Quezon City

Instead of heading to your local cinemas, which screens only the latest films, try something new with your best buds. UP Film Institute screens classic local films everyday. It’s also a good opportunity to get your movie critique hats on since these movies are for FREE! Yes, free!

I remember, the first movie I watched at #upfilmcenter (now called UP Film Institute) was Gone with the Wind. Today, the ticket price here is 50% cheaper than in commercial cinemas

Alliance Francaise de Manille’s Cine Club
Nicanor Garcia, Makati

If you also want to explore foreign films? Alliance Francaise de Manille screens classic and contemporary French films, and at times, even local independent films. This is a weekly activity held every Wednesday evening.

Bonifacio Global City Streets
BGC, Taguig City

Moments with friends deserve good photos, and BGC's street murals are Instagrammable as they can be. Just take stroll around the area and you will find large paintings on the building's walls. Bring your supportive friends with you and take all the photos you want for your IG!

Track 30th
BGC, Taguig City

Exercise is more fun with friends, tbh. BGC's Track 30th can offer you a jogging path, yoga and exercise lawn, and a meditation garden. It even has installation art made of recycled materials. Go and encourage your friends to get physical!

Intramuros
Manila

Enriching your knowledge in the Filipino culture would be so much fun if you are with friends. What better way to explore history in the city than in the walled city of Intramuros? From Spanish era buildings, museums, and modern attractions, Intramuros has got you covered. If ever you get hungry, Binondo is just around the corner. Try out some authentic Chinese food trip!
