No Filipino would ever resist the crackling goodness of a sizzling sisig. Pair it with a cup of rice on the side it becomes a suitable lunch for any hardworking Pinoy. Matter of fact, all the classic Pinoy favorite meals has one thing in common—a savory goodness that hits home.

Still, any dish have room for a breath-of-fresh-air possibility, like how this one dish presented in a cook-off led by Unilever Food Solutions triumphed above others. The dish? A vegan sisig.

The sisig dish is composed of quinoa rice, Korean tofu, various mushrooms, and eggs replacing the fatty pork meat sisig are loved for. For extra kick and flavor, the quinoa is indulged in tamarind soup.

Quinoa rice has been known as a healthier alternative of the stars from the carbo-loaded white rice, along with mushroom and tofu as a vegan option for meat. It’s rich in essential vitamins, minerals, and fibers that help regulate the digestive system to keep one fuller and satisfied longer.
