(Inside Manila) Since its launch last year, the Department of Trade and Industry's (DTI) "Go Lokal!" has continuously found ways to lend a helping hand for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to penetrate the mainstream market. This year, in partnership with local artists' group Common Room and Team Manila, they launch an exclusive unique and fun souvenir collection that best represents the Philippines which foreign visitors, balikbayans, and even locals would want to take home.

Common Room's "A Piece of the Philippines" collection

Common Room, a shop where makers and artists gather to sell their handmade goods curated a variety of toys, trinkets, paper products and fashion accessories that best represents the Philippines from 16 featured designers

Eye stealer in this collection are the Philippine-themed stickers hand painted by Cheryl Owen, "Dessert Shot" that represents three Pinoy favorite desserts, Fruit Salad, Halo-Halo and Buko Pandan in quirky bead bracelets, a cute fishball plush doll from Pop Junk Love and "Rush Hour Pins" made by Ella Lama whom brought her craft to DTI and made guests do their own personalized pins.

Team Manila's "Habi Hiraya" Collection

Known graphic design studio, Team Manila, meanwhile takes on the Filipino indigenous patterns with a contemporary take for their "Go Lokal!" collaboration. The collection is called "Habi Hiraya" that celebrates this unique ethnic fabric.

Applying a Memphis design style, where intricate woven tribal patterns are combined, Team Manila used Bagobo back strap loom weave, Tinguian floor loom weave and a four-fold based grid of guava leaf motif called Uwes to make shirts and tote bags.
