NCCA opens call for ideas for the 2019 National Literature Month

(Inside Manila) Being the chief policy-making, coordinating, and funding agency for the preservation, development, and promotion of Philippine arts and culture, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) encourage and support events that celebrate literature, Hence, it is pleased to announce that the call for ideas for the 2019 National Literature Month celebration is now open.

During the National Literature Month, several concerned agencies and private institutions show how Philippine literature, written in different Philippine languages, is associated with the history and cultural legacy of the State. The 2018 National Literature Month held in April saw bibliophiles, literature enthusiasts, and those guilty of epeolatry gathered at events like the National Book Development Board’s (NBDB) “Book Fiesta,” and Instituto de Cervantes’ annual Dia Del Libro.

The NCCA, along with Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino and NBDB, have been holding said festivity for three years now, and literary organizations and educational institutions have shown interests in partaking and contributing to the event. Ideas and proposals can be submitted to the NCCA’s Technical Working Group via for review until September 15, 2018.
