(Inside Manila) Transport groups have been petitioning P2 fare increase in public utility jeepneys (PUJs) due to the upsurge in petroleum products and spare parts brought by peso depreciation since September 2017.

Just this Wednesday night, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) approved the P1 provisional fare increase of PUJs in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon.

The additional charge from P8 to P9 may start this afternoon as soon as the LTFRB issue their official order.

Meanwhile, LTFRB has not decided yet on the fare hike petitions on taxis, passenger buses, and Transport Network Vehicles. Before they reached the decision yesterday, they underwent 12 proceedings.
