(Inside Manila) The death of American celebrity chef, Anthony Bourdain, has become a total shock to the world as it's only been days away from the untimely death of Kate Spade, both committed suicide.

However, recent reports revealed Bourdain's mental health struggles in a 2016 episode of CNN's "Parts Unknown" in Argentina. More than its food, he featured the country's acceptance in mental illnesses and treatments widely available.

In the episode, Bourdain had a session with a therapist whom he opened up how he could spiral into days of depression just by an airport hamburger.

"Things have been happening, I will find myself in an airport for instance and I’ll order an airport hamburger. It’s an insignificant thing, it’s a small thing, it’s a hamburger, but it’s not a good one,"

Furthermore, he also shared how a quote from English critic George Orwell upset him.

"He talked about human beings are essentially tubes which we shove food,"

"And this is my job; I travel around the world with these people and they turn on the cameras. And then for a certain period of time, my job is to shove food into my face," he added.

Bourdain even compared himself to Quasimodo of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" for being a "freak and isolated" but in a much better condition.

"If he stays in nice hotel suites with high thread count sheets that would be,"

He also revealed how he struggled to communicate with the people he cares about.

"I communicate for a living, but I’m terrible at communicating with people I care about because the evil hamburger which sets me off, suddenly I’m super depressed for days, it’s like that with the good stuff too – I have a couple of happy minutes there where I think “life is pretty good,""

A number of celebrities and names in the culinary industry have already paid their respect and tributes to the late chef.
