LGBT indie film 'Baka Bukas' is heading to Australia

(Inside Manila) Another feat is made for the Philippine cinema and the LGBTQ+ community!

Samantha Lee’s film "Baka Bukas", starring Jasmin Curtis-Smith and Louise delos Reyes, will premiere at the 28th Melbourne Queer Film Festival. According to the website, the event “showcases the finest, contemporary queer cinema from Australia and beyond.” The festival will be held from March 15 to March 26.

"Baka Bukas" is originally an entry at the 2016 Cinema One Originals Film Festival. It tells a story of a 23-year-old director, photographer, writer, and social media manager named Alex (Jasmine) who falls in love with her girl best friend, an actress named Jess (Louise). When Jess learns about Alex’s feelings for her, Jess explores her own sexuality. They begin their relationship with self-discovery and love.
