(Inside Manila) Summer is here! But what significant activities are you planning to do? Here’s an idea.

On behalf of the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA), Star Trek’s William Shatner is inviting everyone to submit their names online to join NASA's first ever mission to travel through Sun’s atmosphere in its historic Parker Solar Probe mission launching in mid-summer 2018.

Chosen names will be placed in a microchip as visionary mission come closer to the sun than any spacecraft before it – facing brutal heat and radiation conditions only to provide humanity with the first-ever close-up picture of a star.

For over six long decades, space scientists have been prioritizing heliophysics – a study understanding how the Sun affects space and the space environment of planets. And Parker probe will try to answer questions scientists have sought to unveil.

To submit your name, just visit the official form page and fill up the needed information. A follow up email will then be sent to you to complete the process. Applications will be accepted until April 27, 2018.

With billions of people around the world who want to be part of a scientific history, it wouldn’t hurt if you will try! This might be your chance to virtually fly to space.
