12 Filipinos join Forbes Billionaires 2018 list

(Inside Manila) A dozen Filipinos have been included in the roster of Forbes Billionaires 2018.

Released on Monday, March 6, e-commerce giant Amazon founder Jeff Bezos was hailed the richest person on the planet and the first centi-billionaire atop Forbes’ annual ranking. 

“A record 2,208 billionaires made Forbes’ 32 annual ranking of the world’s billionaires,” Forbes reported.  “Altogether they are worth a record $9.1 trillion, up 18% from a year ago,” they added.

For the Philippines, SM group founder Henry Sy claimed the 52nd spot, making him the richest Filipino in the global list.

#404. ICTSI chairman Enrique Razon Jr. - $4.8 billion

#441. LT Group founder and Philippine Airlines chairman Lucio Tan - $4.7 billion

#550. Jollibee Foods Corporation chairman Tony Tan Caktiong - $4 billion

#572. GT Capital Holdings chairman George Ty - $3.9 billion

#791. Vista Land and Lifescapes founder Manuel Villar - $3 billion

#887. Alliance Global chairman Andrew Tan - $2.7 billion

#965. San Miguel Corporation president Ramon Ang - $2.5 billion

#1,650. Prudential Guarantee and Assurance chairman Robert Coyiuto Jr - $1.4 billion

#1,756. San Miguel Corporation chairman Eduardo Cojuangco Jr. - $1.3 billion

#1,999. Alphaland Corporation chairman Roberto Ongpin - $1.1 billion

Also included in Forbes Top 10 billionaire is Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates ($90  billion), Berkshire Hathaway chairman Warren Buffet ($84 billion), Louis Vuitton and Sephora’s Bernard Arnault ($72 billion), and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg ($71 billion).
