Doggie Run 2019

Aspin or asong pinoy is probably one if not the most underrated dog breeds ever. But what’s not to love about Aspins? These proud Aspin-owners show you how to love, adore, and care for them so much. We found a lot them slightly drenched, yet active and happy at this year’s Doggie Run 2019. So, we didn’t miss the chance to ask what they think is the best thing about this local breed. Check out their answers below:

"No maintenance tsaka very behave. Malambing din, sobra"

"Parang security guard namin siya. Oo, kasi I have two huskies 'yung dalawang huskies 'diba friendly sila na dog. Unlike 'yung aspin talagang 'pag may mag-doorbell sa'min. Siya 'yung unang mag-bark. So nagiging aware kami na may tao sa labas,"

- Cyrille, 28, Branch Manager

"Sobrang malambing. Mabait. Sobrang behave. Never siya nangagat, masunurin siya tapos kahit papaano may mga command na siya na nasusunod. 'Yung kahit hindi ko itaas ang tone ko 'labas' kahit kalmado 'yung tone ko alam niya na 'yung mga words na ganoon,"

- Rachel, 36, Housewife

"The best thing about Chuckie is sobrang malambing. Clingy. Sobra. Ayaw niyang humiwalay—pero ano takot siya sa ibang aso,"

- Rikkie, 38, Geologist

"Skinny is around two to three years old. What's good about him is after what he's been through, he doesn't show any aggression at all. In fact, he's so loving and he's so affectionate. He loves humans which is very surprising. After all na pinagdaanan niya kasi some people dun sa neighborhood namin is also very cruel to him. Although some of them tried to feed him on the street. Pero may kapitbahay ako, they would kick him out of their property. So 'yun, na-rescue siya na-realize namin na he's just the sweetest dog,"

- Mitzi, 38, Web and Graphic Designer

“What they don’t know kasi talaga they’re very trainable at tsaka they’re very sweet and lovable. Actually ako ha, I’m an advocate of Aspin eh. I have a pet shop and I advocate Aspins talaga. So pagka-meron kaming nakikitang baby puppies na Aspin I post it in Facebook and then have it adopted for free. Tyaka sila, they get along with Shih Tzus—I have five Shih Tzus and one Aspin. He’s an indoor dog, we don’t cage her, she’s very trainable. At tsaka akala nung iba nakakatakot sila actually, she’s the best guard dog. Diba? If you’re gonna buy a guard dog an Aspin is good one talaga,”

- Arlyn, 40, Real Estate Broker

"Malambing. Sweet. Masayahin!"

- Ligaya, 44, Housewife

Let’s look beyond the breed—maybe not at all! A true dog lover is someone who can take responsibility for another life. Even better, why not adopt one? Most Aspins are found in animal shelters waiting for a new home, to love and be loved as any living being should be to another.
