(Inside Manila) It is going on its 50th year and to open this year's first theater season, Repertory Philippines offers Ken Ludwig's "A Comedy of Tenors", with a premiere night on Friday, January 26.

Set in 1930s Paris, "A Comedy of Tenors" features several characters from Ludwig's "Lend Me a Tenor". This focuses on a concert producer named Henry Saunders, his assistant Max, hot-headed and well-known tenor Tito Mirelli, and his wife Maria.

Unknown to the couple, their daughter Mimi also flew all the way to Paris with her lover, rising opera star Carlo Nucci. Her mom knows about her relationship with the young man but her father is left in the dark.

While Maria helps her daughter keep her secret, Tito overhears and misinterprets her conversation with Carlo, which caused him to fight with his wife and bail out of the concert hours before it starts. As if the mishaps are not enough, a singing bellhop and Tito's old flame joins the already chaotic ensemble.

Several flaring tempers, mistaken identities, and bedroom hijinks later, "A Comedy of Tenors" left its audience clutching their stomachs with laughter.

The already hilarious storyline is intensified by a convincing cast. Theater veteran Lorenz Martinez is a genius in playing the act's dual roles, each of them are equally funny. REP first-timers Issa Litton and Arman Ferrer also did a good job sending laughter to the audience.

Jeremy Domingo, Noel Rayos, Mica Pineda, and Shiela Valderamma-Martinez are also part of the powerhouse cast that gives a few hours of hilarity

All brought together by director Miguel Faustman, REP's "A Comedy of Tenors" is the best way to open your theater experience for the year!

What are you waiting for? Catch "A Comedy of Tenors" from January 26 to February 18 at the Onstage Theater Greenbelt 1, Makati City and witness the characters' mishaps that will leave you laughing until the end.
