(Inside Manila) There's nothing better than to experience true peace and quiet, but at the headquarters of a well-known technology company 'peace and quiet' is a whole lot more.

Take a look at the anechoic chamber that holds the record for being the quietest place on earth.

1. It’s owned by Microsoft

This futuristic and quite impressive chamber is located and operated at the Microsoft headquarters in Redmond, Washington.

2. People who enter this chamber can experience overwhelming sensory experience

According to experts, people who stay at silence chambers for quite a while should expect to hear their own body working. From hearing their own ears, stomach gurgling, digestion, to the sound of their own joints as they move and their own heartbeat.

3. The chamber's sound measurements are in negative decibels

It's as low as -20.35dBA which is far below than the capacity of human hearing. The chamber's surrounding sound is so low that physiological sounds somewhat loud, like head turning or blood rushing to the ears.

4. The chamber's purpose is actually not for people

As much as anyone would like to test out their sanity inside the anechoic chamber, its purpose is different. According to a Microsoft spokesperson in a report by the Reader's Digest, the chamber's primary source is to secure an "acoustically controlled environment,” The chamber is also used for scientific and engineering measurements for development of audio technologies that will be used in Microsoft products.

5-6. The longest time they've had people stayed in the chamber is only for an hour. The shortest is only for a few seconds

Although it's not for testing humans, Microsoft staff has entered the chamber. Their duration is expectedly short.

7-8. Unfortunately, it's not open for public—but, the second quietest place on earth is!

With its function to test out audio technology for Microsoft products, the anechoic chamber is not open being an attraction to people.
