Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC), operator LRT1, announced on Friday, December 29, that commuters will get free rides on their trains during certain hours on January 1, 2018.

The LRMC said it will be giving the New Year’s freebie from 7:00 am to 9:00 am and from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on the said date.

Those beepTM stored value card (SVC) holders will not be charged when they use their cards during the free ride period, said the LRMC.

Also, passengers can enter with zero amount on their existing cards as no purse is required during the peak hour free ride periods.

On the other hand, single journey ticket (SJT) holders shall be issued cards with zero fare amount.

Commuters can get their cards from any teller’s booth for free during the freebie period as there will be no SJT issuances over the ticket vending machines during the designated hours.

Cheers to a Happy New Year, commuters!
