Meet the Chief Fan Girl Behind Sticker Con MNL!

Most of us grew up with iconic bands, books, movies, and television series, which remarkably became part of our lives. Some collect posters and paste it on their bedroom walls while some even write fan-based fictional stories.

But for those who are naturally born with artistic aptitude, they use their fascination to spark creative ideas—that’s exactly whatFandom Feels PH’s chief fangirl and Sticker Con founderGrace Marcellana did.

How it Started

As an art student and a "girl of many fandoms," Grace used her free time to create artworks inspired by everything she’s fond of, from Star Wars to the Marvel Universe—name a fandom and she probably have designs for it. Through her designs, Grace could poke fun with the characters she’s drawing. As she got connected with other artists in the scene, Grace established connections with potential partners. Together with her new-found friends, Grace spearheadedthe country’s first-ever sticker con.

It's 2019 already and there’s nothing that can stop creative minds from conquering the world.

Although gifted with finesse in craftsmanship, she mostly kept her artworks to herself and casually posted online for fun’s sake. Until in 2015, a comic book artist who saw Grace’s potentials pushed her to sell her designs online. Doubtful at first, she heeded her friend’s advice. She entertained starting a business out of her passion; while she is having fun making art, might as well make money out of it. Grace posted more of her designs online, and it enticed many sticker collectors. The positive feedback prompted her to spearhead a unique convention featuring not only her artworks but her fellow artists, too. It might not be as big as popular art fairs but Grace aspired to bring something fresh and new to the art community.

For Grace, stickers aren’t just pieces of printed paper, they are outlets to express her love for the pop culture, which has a huge part in her life as an artist.

Fandom Feels

Fandom Feels PH was brought to life ever since Grace started her sticker business venture. Fandom Feels PH is a sticker brand selling pop culture-inspired stickers. They are available in The Craft Central, Hey Kessy, Common Room, Kiss & Fly, and GEEK PH.

The shift of things in Grace’s life, later on, exposed her to a larger sphere, inspiring her to create more designs. Eventually, her patrons became her friends. After several years of communicating with fellow artists and discussing ideas, she finally made a network of crafters who share the same love for stickers. And this was when Sticker Con was brought to life.

In a country with a stout fan culture, starting a sticker convention is not rocket science. Grace took the great leap in bringing fandom arts in the market and initiated a convention, which aimed to gather thousands of sticker collectors and enthusiasts under one roof.

Sticker Con

In March 2018, the first-ever Sticker Convention of its kind in the country kicked off at Bayanihan Center in Pasig City. Over 100 crafters exhibited their works and thousands of sticker collectors relived their cherished childhood days with stickers.

People of different ages unleashed their inner child as they splurged on the newest collections from their favorite local sticker artists. The convention also served as a fan-meet for different fandoms, where they had interactive talks with sticker artists and the Sticker Con Organizers. Exciting prizes were also given out during the raffle draws, an exciting addition to the already massive sticker hoard.

Every sticker collectors went home with hearts full of inspiration from the well-loved sticker artists and budding enthusiasts. The bazaar proved that the Philippines is a cradle of talented artists and eager supporters.

Sticker Con MNL Part 2

“Bigger, better, and happier,” this is how Grace and the rest of Fandom Feels are envisioning the second installment of Sticker Con after its overwhelming success last year.
