(Inside Manila) The Department of Tourism (DOT) recently hailed Quezon province as Calabarzon region's 'Tourist Destination of the Year'

The award was given during the Calabarzon Tourism Summit 2017 held last Monday, November 27 at the Bellevue Manila in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

DOT Calabarzon’s award-giving body cited Quezon province's win as it achieved a 6.3 million same-day tourism arrivals during the 'Niyogyugan' Festival last August 2016.

The festival showcases colorful and vibrant activities that made the province an interesting place to visit for tourists, with numerous products from various cities and municipalities that also serve as representation for their culture.

Quezon Governor David Suarez remarked that the award is already a part of the province's history as well as the newly held destination places in the province that will help improve both the economy and quality of life for the people of Quezon province.

“It takes a special kind of leadership and quality in governance to put premium to tourism. Sa dinami-rami ng mga problemang hinaharap natin, pag nabigyan pa rin natin ng kahalagahan ang turismo, ang ibig sabihin noon, napakagaling niyo pong lingkodbayan,” Suarez stressed.
