What Do You Know About Improvisation Theater?

We bet when we say performing arts you’d automatically think musicals, ballet, or opera. If that's the case, you might want to update your theater knowledge and make way for Improv Theatre.

Improv—short for Improvisation—is a live theatre act wherein the characters, dialogue, and even the story flow are made on-the-spot. Yes, unlike theater musicals, no scripts nor rehearsals are involved in Improv. Improv acts need audiences to participate by responding to a question that determines the next outcome or flow of the story happening on stage.

Typically performed in a comedic style, Improv can be a challenging feat for actors, but it can be one of the most entertaining, interactive acts the audience can see.

Curious? Lucky you, the Manila Improv Festival is happening this March!

The festival will feature 58 improvisational acts from all over the world including groups and individuals from Israel, Singapore, Hongkong, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Australia, the United States, Colombia, France, and Venezuela.

Performers of the unscripted and unrehearsed theater will do shows in four different performing venues inside PETA Theater Center for a five-day comedy marathon with 20 shows and 10 workshops beginning on the evening of March 27 until the evening of March 31.
