(Inside Manila) Her fans have known her as Winwyn Marquez for so long but they have to make certain adjustments as the Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 now wants to go by her real name–Teresita Ssen Marquez.

Winwyn announced this during her victory party on November 13, Monday in a restaurant in Quezon City.

"Actually ang nagbigay ng idea ay si Sir Arnold because Teresita ang ginamit ko sa pageant. Yun ang nakilala sa South America," she said.

The 25-year-old beauty queen also said that by using her real name, confusion will be avoided.

"Meron kasing instance na everyone wanted to get my social media accounts and they were trying to look for my name as Teresita Marquez, eh hindi nila mahanap. So sabi ko 'It's Wyn Marquez.' Sabi [nila], 'Who's Wyn? Who's Winwyn?' Sabi ko 'No, that's my nickname in the philippines.' Pero kasi Teresita made a mark in South America. Also, when I was in new York, some people knew me as Teresita, not Winwyn," she shared.

It may take a while, but Winwyn is hoping that the Filipinos will soon get used to her using the name Teresita.

"It's also a good idea to start na mas ipakilala kung ano yung totoong pangalan ko which is Teresita Ssen Marquez. So, I hope makuha rin ng Pinoy na Teresita talaga ako. Maybe it would take time, but I would love to use my real name from now on," she said.

Winwyn is the Philippines' first ever Reina Hispanoamericana candidate and the first and only Asian in the competition. She was eventually crowned as Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 last November 4.
