The multi-awarded Malagos chocolate from the hometown of President Rodrigo Duterte has been chosen as the token that will be given to the spouses of the top leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)

This is following the 31st ASEAN Summit slated to happen on November 13 to 15 in Manila, the chair of 50th ASEAN this year. The Philippines will pass the chairmanship to Singapore for next year.

“We’re very happy that Davao chocolates were chosen to be the token for the ASEAN leaders’ spouses. It’ll give our bid to become the chocolate capital of the country a very big boost,” said City Tourism Office (CTO) head Generose Tecson

President Duterte's partner, Honeylet Avanceña, who will entertain the ASEAN spouses, ordered 12 sets of limited edition Malagos Chocolate gift boxes, each box contains three sweetened dark chocolate bars, one unsweetened chocolate gift can and two demitasse cups.

Malagos Chocolate has received several international awards for its premium quality dark chocolates.

Among its international awards and recognition is the 2017 Great Taste Competition in London, where it won two awards

Malagos chocolates are exported to Japan, Thailand, Singapore, London, Australia, New York and other parts of the United States.
