Beep card, the tap-and-go payment system widely used in Metro Manila's elevated railways—LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3—has proven its convenience in commuting since its introduction in 2015. While it already has a lot of loading kiosks located in strategic areas, the credit card-like system further expands its innovation.
AF Payments Inc., the company behind the beep™ payment system, recently signed a Business Partnership with Xytrix Systems Corporation as an Authorized beep™ loading partner. According to Beep, its loading network spans “44 LRT and MRT stations, 17 terminals and stops of bus companies with beep acceptance, 59 FamilyMart branches and over 300 outlets of Bayad Center.”
This partnership aims to provide additional beep™ loading options to six million Beep cardholders by way of unmanned beep™ loading kiosks deployed in transport hubs—available 24/7, no less. Say goodbye to long queues at the train stations.
Aside from trains, the Beep card can also be used in select bus lines such as BGC Bus, Citylink Coach Services, and numerous Point-to-Point (P2P) buses. It can also be used to pay toll fees in NLEX and CAVITEX, and over-the-counter payments in various retail establishments. Beep card, which can be purchased for 20php, is valid for four years.
While we’re crossing our fingers that beep™ follow the steps of international contactless “Tap and Go” cards with multiple uses, beep™ is gradually partnering with establishments for perks that users can enjoy. Besides, innovation doesn’t happen overnight.
