Here's Your Weekend Guide for February 8 to 10

The Manila scene this week was an eventful one: metro and light railway transits ban bottled water and other liquids, the Department of Health declares measles outbreak in NCR, among others.

Taking a break this weekend is hence essential to wrap up the week before moving on to the next one. From film and music festivals to farming seminars and sustainable markets, here are all the happenings around the metro you can join in.

Mushroom Production and Processing Seminar
When:  February 8, 8 am to 5 pm
Where: ATI Elliptical Road, Diliman, Quezon City

An initiative of the Department of Agriculture–Agricultural Training Institute, this seminar allows anyone with a knack for urban gardening to learn the know-how, free-of-charge. Participants are encouraged to bring a clean, empty 1.5-liter plastic bottle as a donation to the organizers' garden.

4th Trifecta Film Festival
When: February 8, 6 pm
Where: Natividad Fajardo-Rosario Auditorium, 18/F Br. Andrew Gonzales Hall, De La Salle University, Taft Avenue, Malate, Manila

DLSU's Trifecta Film Festival is now on its second week, and it is screening Roman Perez, Jr.'s Sol Searching. The festival will also feature one short film by up-and-coming student filmmakers so watch out for it. Free admission!

Ayala Museum 'Creative Nights'
When: February 8, 6 pm to 9 pm
Where: Ayala Museum, Greenbelt Park, Makati City

"Creative Nights," an enchanting interpretation of music's marriage to art, will return for a second run, featuring none other than renowned abstractionist Gus Albor and Manila-based producer and beat maker CRWN. Expect a night of unbridled creative inspiration, celebration, and collaboration, designed for the creative community.

Stage of the Nation: Charot
When: February 8, 3 pm; February 9, 3 pm and 8 pm
Where: PETA Theater Center, 5 Sunnyside Drive, New Manila, Quezon City

Philippine Educational Theater Association's (PETA) season-ender, Charot, officially runs this weekend. The play will give audiences a peek of the "perfect Philippines" and present what it's like to have a united community under the federalism banner.

Saturday x Future Market
When: February 9, 11 am to 8 pm
Where: 98B, First United Building, 413 Escolta St. Binondo, Manila

98 Collaboratory returns with one of Makatizens favorite art market to celebrate Chinese New Year. From zines, stickers, and prints to packaged snacks, planters, and books, this Future Market edition will welcome good fortune by selling pre-loved and crafted goods.

Rites of Passage at the Warehouse
When: February 9, 11 am to 11 pm
Where: Kwago, Warehouse Eight-A, La Fuerza Plaza, Makati City

Indie book bar Kwago is relaunching their space at the doorsteps of Warehouse Eight and everyone—introverts, extroverts, ambiverts—is invited. Guests will become ninongs and ninangs at the binyag, so to say. Registration fee is 380php, inclusive of a fiction-inspired coffee or cocktail and a zine.

Baratilyo sa Escolta
When: February 9, 1 pm to 7 pm
Where: Manila Artpost, Unit 321B, 3F, First United Building, 413 Escolta St. Binondo, Manila

Manila Artpost is leaving their studio in a matter of weeks, but they're leaving with a yard sale, happening on all Saturdays of February. Score pre-loved books, cameras, clothes, and more for cheap. Part of the proceeds will be donated to families affected by the current administration's war on drugs.

Syzygy Music Festival
When: February 9 to 10, 4 pm to 4 am
Where: SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds, Pasay City

Relive the scenes at Tomorrowland and party with some of the kings of EDM, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike among them. Local acts such as DJs Marc Marasigan, Jennifer Lee, and more also joins the lineup of this massive EDM festival. What's more, the event is for the benefit of Philippine Red Cross–Paranaque City Branch.

Film screenings at Cinema Centenario
When: February 8 to 10
Where: 95 Maginhawa Street, Teachers Village East, Diliman, Quezon City

For a good 200php, anyone can watch local indie films at Cinema Centenario. They are screening Rainbow's Sunset, Aurora, Liway, Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap, Respeto, Changing Partners, and Hintayan Ng Langit. Wild and Free and The Girl in the Orange Dress is also on show for 150php.
