Fantastic Meat Alternatives and Where To Find Them

As advocates for animal rights, vegans turned away from products derived from animals, even if it means refusing to consume meat and dairy for life. Being vegan needs a lot of sacrifices, especially if one’s still embracing a plant-based lifestyle.

Luckily, we live in a time where vegan options are sprouting within the Metro. There are even restaurants and stores that offer only the best meat alternatives that are 100% plant-based. Rejoice, vegans!

The Good Choices

If you're looking for animal-free food products The Good Choices has soy-based alternatives. Founder Camille Acosta made her first batch tapa, tocino, and longganisa in her own kitchen for her vegetarian husband and kids when she can’t find options for them. Now you can find and order her meals online or in partner stores like The Vegan Grocer, The Vegetarian Kitchen, Good Clean Cart, and Green Light among others.

The Hidden Leaf

We are always looking for the staple lumpia in every feast. Sure, veggie lumpias are commonly available but nothing beats the Pinoy-style lumpia made of ground pork and bits of carrots. Luckily for vegans, The Hidden Leaf has an equally yummy mushroom version of this Pinoy favorite. They also have mushroom versions of sisig, gyoza, pares, and tapa.
