It’s Friday and you know what that means: books, binge, and booze (or whatever comforts you after a week at work). It’s especially an exciting one as we celebrate Thesaurus Day and Popcorn Day, equally unusual holidays, this weekend. For the non-couch potatoes, however, we found these events around the metro for you.

Organic Farming for Newbies
When: January 18, 8 am to 5 pm
Where: ATI Elliptical Road, Diliman, Quezon City

An initiative of the Department of Agriculture–Agricultural Training Institute, "Organic Farming for Newbies" allows anyone with a knack for urban gardening to learn the know-how, completely free-of-charge. Seats are on a first come, first served basis!

Raccoon Turns 3
When: January 19, 4 pm
Where: AXON, The Green Sun Hotel, Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City

Loved “Linya Linya Night” and the “Gabbafest” gig series? You wouldn't want to miss Raccoon Productions' anniversary celebration as they put together your favorite acts under one roof.  Tickets are at 500php (pre-event) and 600php (walk-in).

BGC Art Mart
When: January 18 to 19, 5 pm to 10 pm
Where: Alveo Central Plaza, 26th corner 9th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City

BGC's cultural district lived up to its aim of upholding itself as one of the homes for Filipino artists as it returns for its monthly arts and crafts bazaar. Posters, paintings, handcrafted art—score these and some more great stuff at BGC Art Mart. Entrance is free!

Storytelling Saturdays with Adarna
When: January 19, 2 pm to 3 pm
Where: Children’s Section, 2/F Fully Booked Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City

Immerse your young'uns into a heartfelt story! This month, Fully Booked and Adarna Publishing is featuring Sinag and Tala and Ang Hukuman ni Sinukuan for their Storytelling Saturdays. Walk-ins are allowed but securing your slots is the favorable option.

Film screenings at Cinema Centenario
When: January 18 to 20
Where: 95 Maginhawa Street, Teachers Village East, Diliman, Quezon City

For the film buffs of all film buffs, Cinema Centenario is your go-to. Catch Hintayan Ng Langit, Sakaling Hindi Makarating, Patay Na Si Hesus, Die Beautiful, Rainbow's Sunset, Balangiga: Howling Wilderness, and Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap. Tickets are at 200php each.
