Nostalgic Styles, Harnesses And More: Here Are Our 2019 Beauty and Fashion Trend Predictions

2019 is just getting started, but the roster of beauty and hair trends are already lined up for every junkee to jump to. From this year's color of the year, a style era making a comeback, to cropped fringes and more—it's fun to see where the 21st century is going. Here are our beauty and fashion forecast for 2019:

Beauty

Coral Makeup

Allow us to state the obvious first. Color authority Pantone released their color of the year, automatically becoming the world’s color of the year too. Living Coral, a hue both vibrant and lowkey, symbolizes "optimism and joyful pursuits." It also pays homage to the world's actual living corals.

If you want to try living coral in your beauty routine Colourette’s has a roster of coral-toned products for you:

Glossy Lips

It’s high time we break away from matte lips. Gloss is no longer just a throwback trend. It’s here to stay (and slay!).

If you want to head straight to lipgloss choose a nude one. You could also top it off with your fave everyday look—lip tints! Or do it the classic way—top it over a matte lipstick to give shine, fullness and bring back hydration to your lips.

‘80s Eye Looks

And with gloss coming into play, the '80s inspired makeup look could make a comeback this year. In the recently held Golden Globes, these eye looks dominated the red carpet instead of the usual black smokey eyes we've known. Bold, vibrant colors that will give 80's Madonna run for her money.

Hair

Micro Bangs

We all have gone through embarrassing haircuts as a child, especially with Pinay moms who prefer to DIY to save money. Well, those bowl cuts and midway bangs might be a fad this year. If you're curious how this nostalgic look would look on the "adult" you, consult and have it done by your go-to hairstylist—having mom do it for you is a good idea too! *wink*

Bold DIY Hair Dyes

We think 2019 is a year where people are exploring hair colors and doing it on their own too. Lilac locks spiked in search in Pinterest; a late high on last year’s color of the year, maybe? On the other hand, Pinterest also sees people accepting their silver tresses as searches for gray hair increased as well.

Fashion

Bondage Fashion

The line between what is and what is not fashionably unacceptable is now too thin. James Reid brought it to the limelight at the ABS-CBN Ball and wore this very leather harness like an accessory to his bejeweled suit. Call Me By Your Name star Timothée Chalamet also has such a look, and we couldn’t see anyone more dapper.

"Palaban" Student Look

It also looks like the casual-but-palaban-student fashion is going to be a “look” in the local scene after photos of Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil upcoming movie went viral online. The two sported  everyday looks we all have worn during our student days. It seems like there’s no need to make any effort to be trendy at all.

It’s still too early to say what will make the cut this year. One thing’s for sure, though: 2019 is off to a good start! Let us know in the comments section what you want to try out this year!
