Heads Up: Here’s Your Weekend Guide for January 11 to 13

by Jace Amodo , January 11, 2019 10:00am

This weekend, fill up your stash of toys and collectibles, learn a new sustainable way to create light, fuel the history or movie buff in you, or cap your Saturday night off with good food and good music up north.

Manila Hobbies & Collectibles Convention 2019

When: January 12 to 13, 10am–8pm

Where: Megatrade Hall 3, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City

There’s not a lot of activities given solely to collectors and toy enthusiasts in the metro so when there is, we grab it. Treat your inner hobbyist (or inner child) at this exciting two-day convention where you can score limited edition toys, see statues of different sizes, and meet people with the same interests and child-like wonder for toys.

For more information, visit the event page on Facebook.

Makerspace Pilipinas: Light Up The New Year

When: January 12, 10am–2pm

Where: Mind Pod 3, The Mind Museum, JY Campos Park, 3rd Ave, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig

What do you get when you combine technology and recycled materials? It’s none other than the satisfaction of contributing a solution to one of the country’s major issues, which is access to light. Not to mention, the process is fun. Registration fee is at 100php, inclusive of a light-up card and a water bottle lamp. 2019 is going to be lit!

Calling all History buffs! Get the lowdown on what went down during the historic Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade (Nao de China or Nao de Acapulco) in this lecture with Dr. Carlos Madrid. Tickets range from 175php to 350php.

We’re going a bit further north here but hey, there’s #NoStoppingTheHungry. Yellow Cab Pizza is letting y’all chase what is worth it through the So Worth It! Pizza Tour, happening every weekend of January in select cities. This Sunday, party with fellow pizza lovers over the tunes of Turncoats, Amateurish, and DJ Jethro. Entrance is free!
