Anyone who's had access not Netflix during the quarantine is no stranger to Crash Landing on You. Philippine fans are in for a treat as Philippin telco Smart's latest endorser is no other than Hyun Bin who played Captain Ri on Crash Landing On You, and who first won the hearts of Filipinos in 2005, when a local TV network aired a Tagalog- dubbed version of his romantic comedy drama, ‘My Name Is Kim Sam Soon.’
“The ‘Hyun Bin Phenomenon’ is pretty much due to digital technology - Filipinos have developed the craze because they are able to stream his shows, hear the buzz about him online, share their excitement with their friends, and even get to interact with him through social media,” says Jane Basas, SVP and Head of Consumer Wireless Business at Smart.
The teasers launched last Thursday, May 28, was well-received by fans. In a video released by Smart, he said he too was glad to be part of the campaign:
“This makes him a perfect ambassador for Smart as we empower Filipinos with technological
solutions made easy so they can enrich their daily life and pursue their passions,” Basas adds.
“Filipinos are some of the warmest fans in the world, and I am thankful to Smart for giving me a way to reach out to everyone in the Philippines. Indeed, Smart has brought us closer than ever,”
Smart's latest campaign, "Simple. Smart ako." is the first Smart Campaign to feature a South Korean star.
Hyun Bin's year-long contract with smart includes one visit to the Philippines with 3 events but with no definite dates yet. Smart is also set to release a 2nd commercial starring the heart rob as well as Hyun Bin merchandise (we heard a 6'1" standee is on the works) to be released beginning June 7.
