This Ant Colony Community on Facebook Functions Better Than Most Human Societies

As children, we loved the story of "The Ant and the Grasshopper" and we were taught to have an ant-like mindset: to be hardworking and save for the future, as well as, avoid the idleness of the grasshopper. We are reminded of this ant-like mindset once again as a Facebook group went viral for its unique community—a community of people pretending to be ants in an ant colony.

The group's name “A group where we all pretend to be ants in an ant colony” is what it says it is. Right now, it’s not far off to an actual ant colony with its 1.5 million-plus members. And to become a member, you only need to take a test filled with witty antics and before you know it, you’re part of the colony.

Inside, users can post anything related to being an ant. Whether its appreciation for other “ants”, ant count, praises for the Ant Queen, and (probably the best part) request to send help from other ants. Comment “L I F T” for food and “B I T E” when there are intruders.

It became a comedic relief we never knew we need in these trying times, and if you look at it beyond the surface, it tells us a thing or two about solidarity—now if only we can have it applied in real life.

For now, allow us to be just ants.
