April celebrants would most likely spend their birthdays at home--some of the March celebrants already did. The enhanced community quarantine will continue until the end of the month so there’s no way you can go to your favorite places or invite several people over to your home.
Still, you can make your day special but you need to be creative. Plan your birthday party while abiding to social distancing and quarantine rules.
'Bake' your cake
It’s not like you can just go to a bakeshop and buy a birthday cake. Why not create a cake from scratch? Search for recipes online. If you fail, you can always order online.
Make your own decorations
This requires quite a bit of creativity and resourcefulness. Make your own birthday banners and backdrops with what you have at home. For sure, you have spare craft papers, scissors, and tapes/glue you used for a school project or some other activity. Ask Google for DIYs now!
Have a “Karaoke Night”
Since you can’t go to that karaoke place with your friends, download a karaoke app on your phone instead. Choose from The Voice (available for iOs and Android), Smule (available for iOs and Android), WeSing (available for iOs and Android), and there are several more. Your pick.
Have an online celebration
Although you can't be with your buddies physically, you can still clebrate with them. Why don't you organize a conference call at a certain time and let the e-party begin!
Plan a watch party
No Netflix? No problem. You can watch *free -legal* movies on YouTube courtesy of TBA. You can enjoy them with your housemates over a bag of chips.
Have a Pizza Night
The community quarantine has given you the opportunity to spend time with your family. It will be great if you celebrate it with them. Order pizza (Angel’s Pizza is still open for deliveries) and celebrate your day away over funny conversations.
Dance the night away
Since we’ve mentioned DIYs, you can opt to make disco-themed decorations so you can have that disco feel. Make a Spotify playlist of your favorite upbeat songs and you can dance until your legs are sore. You’re allowed to do all those crazy dance moves.
It might not be the birthday celebration you would expect, but a little sacrifice goes a long way. Our frontliners will thank you for staying at home. In this way, you’ll be giving them a present too: one less person to think about. Well wishes on your birthday!
