COVID-19 and the Enhanced Community Quarantine ruined our plans for the summer. We long to go to the beach, take a hike, or travel somewhere we’ve never been before. But how can we do that if we can't even go to the nearest grocery store without a quarantine pass?
The Department of Tourism (DOT) understands this dilemma and created a way how we can travel in the comfort of our homes.
DOT features “Travel For Home” wherein people can choose virtual backgrounds for video calls as they work from home or catch up with friends. These backgrounds are available in different video conferencing platforms like Zoom and Webex.
For your morning calls, you can choose the sunrise from Siargao or the serene view of Mount Mayon in Bicol.
Having a hot and humid afternoon? Cool off with the waters of Coron and Puerto Galera or see the historical sites in Intramuros and Bataan.
For the evenings, enjoy the dusk in Batangas, Boracay, Batanes, and Bacolod.
These backgrounds are available to download for free at philippines.travel/fromhome to remind you of the beauty of our country even though we are at home. May these photos help you reflect no matter what time of day it is.
We know this “travel from home” is far from the travel you really want to do but your safety is far more important than any destinations in the Philippines or in the country. We look forward to traveling when this Enhanced Community Quarantine ends. Until then, stay safe at home, wash your hands, and write all the places you would want to visit when our country is declared COVID-19-free.
