The enhanced community quarantine has kept people in their homes and will continue to do so until it is lifted. As the Luzon-wide quarantine continues to persist, many search for ways to keep them entertained. Some have found refuge in uploading videos in Tiktok.

The Essentials for Beginners

Tiktok is a rising video-sharing social media platform created in China. It merged with Musical.ly in 2018 and pretty soon, it became a hit to the majority of Generation Z. If you’re wondering why it is trending among the young generation, you can try it for yourself.

Unlike Instagram, TikTok only allows its users to upload videos with a maximum of 15 seconds. Instagram is a photo and video sharing platform, while TikTok actually lets people create content--short and funny videos and even memes.

When you’ve downloaded the app, all you need to do now is muster all your courage and confidence to upload a video. You can also call in your friends who are already TikTok users (encourage the non-users) to follow your newly-explored social media account. Hey, maybe you can “collaborate” with them at some point.

The ‘Challenges’ to Take

Tiktok is filled with different bite-sized videos that can leave you entertained for hours. We bet you’ve heard Young Thug’s “Relationship” (the one with the lyrics that go “I know how to make the girls go crazy”). Even though unintentional, you have those songs stuck in your head, only to find out that those songs became dance challenges on TikTok.

One of the popular challenges that came about is Ed Sheeran’s Beautiful Challenge where people are asked to feature beautiful people in their lives while Ed’s “Beautiful People” plays in the background. We’re sure you haven’t missed the Tala Dance Challenge and The Weekend Dance Challenge.

The Accounts to Follow

Since you’re new on TikTok, it’s best to know who is worthy to be followed. If you want content about confidence and beauty tips, Anna O'Brien will give you what you want.

On TikTok celebrities, you can follow Yanyan de Jesus, currently the number one local TikTok influencer in the country, for some light short videos and laughter.

TikTok, like any social media platforms, can make you busy for a time. It doesn’t hurt to try something new like this one, but always remember to set your priorities first. Happy TikTok-ing!
