As enhanced community quarantine ensues, panic has spread as fast as the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19). This meant panic-buying and suspensions of services. We are advised to stay in our homes in order to prevent the spread of virus. But there are people who are homeless and underprivileged who can’t buy necessities. Let’s not forget the healthcare professionalsin times of this circumstance.
Even though we are safe in our homes, we can always lend a helping hand to those who are in need. We listed the organizations who accept donations in cash or in kind to support the poor and COVID-19 frontliners.
Tulong Kabataan - UP Manila
Tulong Kabataan holds a face mask drive for the patients, health workers, and interns of the Philippines General Hospital. But apart from the masks, the organization also accepts tissue paper, alcohol, and cash donations for PGH. You can contact 09082111437 for information and view their donation tracker here.
University of the Philippines-National Institutes for Health (UP-NIH)
The COVID-19 testing kits are developed by the University of Philippines-National Institutes for Health. But the kits still need to be validated. UP-NIH needs funds for supply of COVID kits, logistics, and personal protective equipment. To help our health workers, you can send cash donations to The U.P. Medical Foundation, Inc, BDO Bacobo-Pedro Gil Branch to the account no 353-0094-018.
The poor and elderly don't go unnoticed during these times. Caritas Manila aims to give Caritas LIGTAS COVID-19 kits (includes alcohol, face masks, soap, bleach, gloves, and cleaning cloth) and Caritas Manna food bag (includes rice, munggo seeds, assorted canned goods, noodles, and pack of sugar and salt). You can send your donations via online bank transfer, debit or credit cards, Lazada, Give2Asia, and GCash.
Angkas maximizes its network by gathering donations for hospitals. They call on to people with extra face masks, surgical gloves, alcohol, hand sanitizers, and ready-to-consume goods. An Angkas representative will go to your location, pick-up the donation, and distribute it to our hospitals to support our health care professionals.
Kaya Natin! Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership
KN Movement also lends a hand in aiding our health workers during this time of need. In coordination with the Office of the Vice President, they set up a donation drive that will run until April 14, 2020. You can donate through their BPI account or through Ticket2Me.
Rock Ed Philippines
Rock Ed Philippines wants the healthcare frontliners to have their share of nutritious freshly cooked meals and have their fruit station. You can donate through bank transfer or you can donate ingredients like vegetables and fruits.
Philippine Association of Medical Technologists (PAMET)
PAMET is calling for PPEs for the medical technologists and other healthcare providers as supplies are running out. You can donate in cash through bank transfer. You can also bring in in-kind donations. Just contact the PAMET Secretariat at (02) 8817 1487 or 0917 890 1118.
During these times, hoarding will only deprive our fellowmen of their necessities. Let’s give the supplies to those who really need them. It is during these times that we really need to express our support and solidarity.
